Part Six – Simplify

That’s been one of my mantras—focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.

– Steve Jobs

After you have clarified your plans, one of the best things you can do as you implement them is to simplify them as much as possible. Although many activities to simplify your personal and professional life seem obvious, they should still be performed within a context of your clear plan. This will help you choose the correct actions for reaching your goals in the most efficient manner.

Key points from this section:

  • Simplify your work area and life by ensuring that every item has value, and then has a place. Strive to minimize.
  • Ensure all projects and activities support your principles, why?, mission, and hoshin plan.
  • Remove choice and be comfortable saying “no” respectfully.
  • Organize your workspace so that it communicates information visually. Visual information is processed far faster than written.
  • Write by hand to improve learning.
